The Year Of The Office
If you subscribe to my weekly newsletter, you may already know we're making over my parents' home office! And since this will be our third office makeover in 6 months, I am officially declaring this, "THE YEAR OF THE OFFICE." My dad retired in the spring and I am so excited to create a space for my parents that feels both sophisticated and functional.

My parents already own these 2 bookcases that aren't necessarily anything special, but we will be using them as the base for custom built in shelves and cabinets that will flank a desk complete with brass pendant light. The entire construction will be painted a dark moody blue gray that is absolutely gorgeous! If you are a fan of moody dark colors, don't miss our basement makeover!

On the remaining 3 walls we will install board and batten 2/3's up the wall to create the illusion of a larger and taller space. Masculine, plaid wallpaper will hang above the board and batten along with vintage art prints and other vintage thrifted décor.

The ultimate goal for this space is to give Mom and Dad and beautifully cozy space that can accommodate both of them working or relaxing at the same time. There will be space to use the computer, a small drop leaf table for quick sewing projects, and my grandmother's sitting chair for morning devotionals - my mom's request.

And most importantly we will be sticking to a tight budget by using pieces they already own, thrifting, and completing DIY projects!
