4 Styling Tips to Reduce Seasonal Clutter

I absolutely love swapping out my décor season to season to make our home feel special and cozy. But having separate décor items for every season and holiday adds up to a LOT of things to store! With this easy list of style tips, you can minimize seasonal clutter in your home that will save you money AND storage space!

And if you're looking for ideas on how to store all of your seasonal items, don't miss my organizational tips here!!!

1. swap out pillow covers instead of entire pillows

One of the easiest ways to transition your home from season to season is to bring in new throw pillows and blankets. But personally, I don't have a ton of space to store these bulky items! Invest in good quality pillow inserts, and switch out the covers for different seasons and holidays. Covers take up much less space, and you can even layer different covers on top of one another on your pillows! No one will know there's a spring floral print hiding underneath that holiday plaid!

Pro Tip: Select pillow inserts 2 sizes larger than your covers for a full, luxe look. I stuff my 20x20 covers with these 24x24 inserts. These velvet pillow covers are so incredibly soft and come in so many gorgeous colors perfect for swapping out seasonally.

2. Use natural materials in your décor

For winter months, bring in fresh greens. In the spring fill your home with flowers from your garden. In the fall display foraged pines cones, dried flowers and grasses. If you don't have these items on your own property, take a walk in the woods or ask a neighbor for clippings from their yard! At the end of the season you can simply throw these things away so there's nothing to store and forage again next year!

3. incorporate every day décor into your seasonal displays

You'll obviously save storage space if you don't even have to store it! Mixing in décor you have out all of the time with your seasonal styling saves money and time. Candle sticks look beautiful at any time of year. Fill vases and bowls with those natural elements I mentioned above!

I display this collection of antique canning jars all year long in my kitchen, but in the winter months, I fill them with faux snow and bottle brush trees!

4. switch out framed art for seasonal digital downloads

You can find gorgeous seasonal prints for free online or purchase inexpensive downloads from Etsy like the ones below. Store off season prints or photographs behind the one you are displaying!
