New Tree, New Trimmings

In 2020 fashion, our gorgeous, full, pre-lit Christmas tree decided not to light up anymore. While the idea of cutting every single light off the tree sounded suuuuper appealing, we decided to save our time and buy a new tree. We have been wanting to get a slimmer tree ever since we moved into this house 3 years ago, so now was the time!

After a lot of research and many, many reviews we decided on this tree for our family room. I am really impressed with the quality of the branches and needles. And it was really easy to assemble and "fluff."

Our tree star ALSO decided its time was up, so I knew it was time for a complete refresh on our Christmas tree décor. I am in love with the new look and am so excited to share these finds with you!

The true 'star' of our tree isn't really the tree topper star. It's the antique ornaments I've collected from my and my husband's families. If you don't have family heirloom ornaments, look in local thrift or antique stores! Our antique ornaments come in a wide range of bright colors so I like to keep the rest of our ornaments simple in metallic tones. And if you're interested in other antique Christmas inspiration, check out this post!

I found this tree topper at Lowe's, and it is truly stunning in person! It has a vintage feel and gives off a great light. It is also super easy to attach to your tree with the included large clip.

This is the first year I've been able to choose the lights for the tree. I love the look of both large and small bulbs mixed together and found these and these at target. They highlight the vintage feel of our tree and the light is nice and warm.

I have always wanted felt pompom garland for around our tree and found a really affordable version at Michael's Craft Store. 3 strands of garland were perfect for our new 7 foot slim tree.

Lastly, I have been wanting a tree collar for a few years now. I found this black metal one at Target. It goes well with the farmhouse vibe of our living room and I think it makes the tree pop!

Have you added any new decor to your tree this year? Are you team real tree or team artificial tree? Let me know in the comments!
