Get a High End Look With Low Maintenance Plants

One of the easiest ways to breathe life into your home and elevate the look of a space is to add plants - live or faux. Personally, I LOVE real plants and all of the benefits that come with filling my home with greenery. But if you're notorious for killing any plant babies that enter your home, fear not! I put together a simple and easy to find list of low maintenance plants that will not only survive your negligence, but look gorgeous in your home!
Snake Plant

Terrible name, beautiful leaves! Funny story, my mom has a snake plant phobia she recently overcame once my dad told her he specially wanted to add one to their new home office. As a child, one of her aunts told her they had real snakes in them and she's never been able to go near them without shuddering after her childhood trauma.

BUT, I have to say this big beauty looks pretty incredible in their new space and my mom hadn't cried in the corner...yet lol!

Snake plants can thrive in any sort of light - even fairly dark rooms! I have a big one growing in our basement, which only has one small window and she's happy as a clam...er, snake?
Philodendron

The plant that keeps on giving! Let these gorgeous tendrils of heart shaped leaves cascade down your bookcase or mantle. Or even hang one with an adorable hanging planter! They tolerate forgetting to water them and do pretty well in all sorts of light! PLUS, trim off a few stems, submerge the ends in a glass of water for a few weeks and watch new roots grow! (That's called propagation!) Share your new babies with friends or fill another pot in your own home for some free extra air purification!

Peperomia

It had a touch of blush to its leaves so obviously, it's one of my favs! I have forgotten to water mine for weeks on end and she still loves me! She also splits very easily so you transplant several babies from one mama plant. Direct and indirect sun don't bother her at all, but she probably shouldn't be put in a dark spot like a snake plant.

Where to find them?

I don't think I've ever taken a walk through the Home Depot plant nursery and not seen all 3 of these there! But any plant nursery will also have these 3 varieties, and it's always better to support small businesses if you can, right?!
My tip for not forgetting to water!

Using the alliteration, "WATER WEDNESDAY," helps me remember to keep my plants hydrated weekly. Make sure they have ample drainage holes! And for a bonus tip, if case you forget water Wednesday, you can also use "THIRSTY THURSDAY," as a back up, lol!
