Father's Day Activity Guide
I figured out years ago that men can be really hard to shop for. Rather than trying to find something my dad and husband will actually like and use, I try to focus on spending the day together doing something special. That does sometimes mean I purchase a few gifts for them or all of us to use, but I know the day spent making memories is the real gift!
I put together a list of some of my favorite past father's day and family activities to inspire you to do something a little different this year with the fathers and like-fathers in your life.
Even if you're not using these ideas for Father's Day, they would all make amazing family summer activities!

Backyard Movie Night
We did this a few summers ago for Father's Day and it was SO fun. We found an inexpensive movie projector that works really well and built our own DIY movie screen out of PVC pipe and a bed sheet. (I'll be sharing that DIY later this summer!) If you're not into DIY's, I linked a few movie screens for you as well as our projector. There are tons of projector options out there that are way more expensive, but we were really happy with what our $100 projector can do! Now that we have all of our gear, we love hosting neighborhood movie nights all summer!
What movie night is complete without comfy seats and snacks?! We have these inflatable hammocks, and they are so incredibly comfortable! It's like lounging on a cloud! They are perfect for movie nights or even to take along to the beach or camping. And we make air popped popcorn almost every night as a healthy snack, so this is a must on our movie night list!
Make sure dad gets to pick the movie!
inflatable hammocks - SO comfortable!
kinder's master salt - seriously, the BEST seasoning!
Game Tournament - Family Olympics
Got a competitive dad/husband? Organize a game tournament or family Olympics with all sorts of outdoor challenges or indoor games. This would be so fun to host with several families for lots of players! If you're hardcore, get every team to wear a different color or have team T-shirts made!
ticket to ride - a personal favorite!
memory - we love Charlie Harper's artwork
Mexican train dominoes - my 5 year old loves this game!
For the outdoors dad, take him tubing down a local creek or river. Make sure you pack lots of sunscreen and water! I found an awesome floating cooler to tote along all those drinks and snacks so you can leisurely float the day away. After a day on the water, stop to pick up dad's favorite take out and ice cream!
Spoiler alert, this is my secret plan for Father's Day this year! Tim has sworn not to read this post prior to that weekend, so mum's the word! (or is it dad?) My husband also really loves when he and our son match, but it can be difficult to find cute options! After lots and lots of hunting, I found 3 really cute father/son matching swimsuits for you!
river tubes - these are exactly what I bought for my family!
sunscreen - safe for everyone in the family!
men's palm suit - buying these for my guys!
Brunch on The Grill
For the man who loves the grill, organize a grilled brunch! We have a flat top grill that we absolutely love! We make everything from pancakes to bacon and eggs to pizzas (along with all of the other traditional grill options. This flat top grill would make any dad flip! Serve up grilled breakfast pizzas topped with eggs and all of dad's favorite toppings. Or make him a hotcake feast with grilled fruits and whipped cream.
The Blackstone Flattop Grill is widely popular, but very pricey. We personally own, the Sam's Club version and are thrilled with it!
grill and serve platter - keeps your food warm while serving!
seasoning assortment - I can't say enough good stuff about these seasoning blends!
For the creative guy, host a family art day filled with crafts and family portraits. Maybe let Dad model while everyone draws/paints a portrait of him!
Got a handy dad? Gift him a new tool and include plans for a DIY he and the kids can build together!
ryobi cordless staple driver - my husband swears by Ryobi brand
