A New Kind of Resolution and a NYE TableScape

As I have been reflecting on the past year and setting intentions for the year ahead, I had a thought. Instead of choosing resolutions we'll probably only keep for a month, what if we wrote down hopes and prayers for each other? Think of it as a "Resolution Revolution!"

At New Year's Eve dinner, my family members will each take some time to write down what we hope for each other and tuck our papers away in these adorable boxes I made out of paper. The goal is to keep your box somewhere you will see every day so you have an opportunity to think about and pray for those you wrote about.

You can find the paper box tutorial I used below, but you could use any type of container - an envelope, a clear glass ornament, papier-mâché boxes from the dollar tree, etc...

What is most important and special is the act of thinking about loved ones and what you'd love to happen for them in the coming year.

My plan is to, God willing, bring everyone back next New Year's Eve for dinner and to open our boxes and talk about what we wished for one another. What a great way to end the year by reminiscing and processing struggles and triumphs with loved ones!

Origami Paper Boxes

Note - I altered this design a bit by pinching the sides to make more of a pouch shape. There are lots of other easy tutorials on Pinterest for folded paper boxes!

New Year's Tablescape

I put this table together quickly with pieces I already owned. I had purchased these sequin napkins for my Halloween Spooky Soiree. I folded and layered half of them as a runner down the center of my table! I topped my makeshift runner with antique metallic ornaments and these 3 brass starbursts that are normally hanging on the wall in our bedroom! How fun are they on this table scape?!

Last minute I was inspired to decorate a New Year's Tree! I filled clear balloons with confetti glitter and secured them to tree branches. I made a large folded paper star using this easy tutorial and attached a star covered in glitter to the front. I love it so much!!

If you are making resolutions this year or have another special family New Year's Eve tradition, I'd love to hear it! Leave a note in the comments! I pray that the new year ahead is filled with blessings, joy, and lots of inspiration for you!

xoxo, L
