5 Year House-Iversary

I cannot believe we have been in this house 5 years! Jackson was a month from turning 2 when we moved in, and here we are with a first grader! So much has changed in our home, even since my last house post a year ago!

I thought it would be fun to look back at all of the changes we made in the last year. I didn't realize how many there were until gathering photos for this post! If you want more details on any of these transformations, make sure to check out the blog posts I linked for each room!

Dining Room

We certainly didn't spend a lot of money in the dining room this year, but we made some huge changes with a new dining table, ceiling light, and gorgeous thrifted artwork! And that rug beautifully ties this moody vintage room together!

Kitchen

I recently shared how we made some simple, affordable updates to our kitchen that made it feel warmer, cozier, and look much more custom and high end than the builder grade kitchen we had when we moved in!

The brass hardware instantly brought warmth to our kitchen and we are still OBSESSED with our new kitchen faucet!

Primary Bedroom

After changing the layout and adding a lower profile headboard, our bedroom feels much larger! I still have big plans for this room with some refinished furniture ideas and possibly a bold moody color on the walls and trim!

Adding a rug on top of our carpet helped to ground the space and showed my doubting husband that rugs have a lot of power in styling a room!

Basement

This past spring we participated in the One Room Challenge where we made over our basement in just 8 weeks! If you missed any of the progress and fun, start with this post!

Our makeover was even featured in an article by Apartment Therapy, which was a major achievement this year!

My Home Office

As The Rural Legend expended this past year I decided I needed a dedicated home office space for myself. I transformed our spare bedroom into a space just for me with warm moody walls and all the feminine vintage accents that I don't necessarily use in my home filled with boys.

I STILL need to paint the dresser in this room and I'd like to get a more modern "fandelier" to match the feminine vibe of this space. And I think I just might paint the ceiling to match the wall color at the same time. Stay tuned!

Guest Room

Since I took over the spare bedroom for my office, our guest bed needed a new home! We came up with the idea to store our queen sized guest bed in the playroom closet to keep it out of the way until we actually have guests! This saved us so much space and meant both Tim and I could have our own office spaces!

Tim's Office

Which brings me to Tim's favorite makeover of the year - his office! We used to share this space in our finished basement, but really He worked from here and I sat at the dining table to work. With all of my "stuff" relocated to my office, I wanted to give Tim a Vintage Modern Masculine design that would make him much happier about working in the basement every day!

Which one was your favorite makeover this year? It's hard to believe that there are still projects on our to do list after such a busy year, but trust me, there's lots of plans in place and transformations coming your way! The question remains though, which ones will we tackle in the upcoming year? Stay Tuned!
