The Look for Less: Plant Stand

Updated: Apr 24, 2023

By upcycling a thrifted candle holder and metal plate, I made this unique DIY plant stand! If affordable sustainable DIY projects are your thing, don't miss this one!

Have you seen the end tables I made out of thrifted lamps for my Spring One Room Challenge? This is the same concept, but I found this awesome HEAVY candle holder that is the perfect height for a plant stand in my dining room!

I wanted to try a different kind of top for this stand instead of the glass microwave plate I used for my tables. I found this ruffled edge metal plate that works perfectly!

what you need

how to make it

1. Make sure all of your surfaces are clean before starting! Apply a generous amount of construction adhesive to the top of your candle holder.

2. Place your plate on top, making sure it is centered. Use your level to ensure everything is level!! Allow the adhesive to dry for a least 24 hours to cure.

3. Spray paint your stand in the color of your choice! I used flat black on my tables, so I wanted to try a different color for this stand. Rustoleum bright coat metallic gold is my favorite gold spray paint and it made this stand look luxe!
