How To Style a Spooky Soiree

If you haven't figured it out by now, I LOVE holidays! I love to decorate, come up with new DIY's, and I LOVE to host holiday events! This year, I put together a budget friendly and easy table scape for a chic but spooky dinner party for a few of my girl friends and I'm sharing all my ideas and tips with you!

I love this spiderweb tablecloth! It can be used on its own or with another cloth for a pop of color underneath. Because I planned so much of my décor to be black, I chose an orange table cloth as the back drop for contrast.

I took a long piece of black gauze and used it as a runner down the middle of the table. I made sure it was bunched up in different places to make it look messy. I've never used sequin napkins before, but if they don't scream chic and spooky, then I don't know what does, lol! I was surprised at how soft they are and the shedding of sequins was extremely minimal!

I always love coming up with new ways to style my dining table and I think the centerpiece is the best part! I took an old candelabra I've had for at least 15 years and spray painted it flat black with my favorite spray paint - Rust-oleum 2x. Immediately, it transformed into a luxe and eerie focal point for my table.

I took another piece of décor that's been sitting in my attic for several years - inexpensive plastic pumpkins, acorns and gourds I picked up at a craft store on post-holiday clearance. Those too got a spray paint makeover and I am obsessed with the all black, matte look! With my candelabra in the center, I simply arranged my pumpkins/gourds down the center of my table runner and placed 2 in thrifted sterling silver pieces. I didn't bother polishing the silver because that adds to the spooky feel! A few votives add a little extra sparkle with the lights low.

If you follow me on Instagram, you've seen me showcase my vintage carnival glass collection before. I wanted to use them for this table scape because that gorgeous iridescent orange color just begs to be used for a classy Halloween dinner! Look for carnival glass in antique shops and on ebay. You can also use white dinner plates!

I chose gold chargers I already owned as my base and layered my carnival glass dinner plates on top. I found these beautiful matte black salad plates with a touch of gold on the rim at Walmart and I knew they would be a great addition to this tablescape! I also layered in the black sequin napkins by folding them in thirds and placing them under the salad plate for a little extra sparkle.

Using my carnival glass tumblers was a no brainer, but I wanted to add a classy flare with coupe champagne glasses for my Halloween cocktail. The ribbed edging on these is just gorgeous! I can't want to style with these again at Christmas and New Year's!

I think I saved the best for last, because I'm pretty sure my flying bats are the star of the room! They just make me smile and they were extremely inexpensive and easy to hang. AND, they come off easily without damaging the wall!

I also FINALLY got battery operated candles for my Facebook Marketplace wall candelabra and I cannot tell you how much that transformed my dining room at night! These candles light up on a timer and they flicker like real candles. It's very difficult to photograph, but this space lit only by candlelight is just magical!
