Family Gallery Wall

Updated: Apr 19, 2023

This Christmas gift to myself was so affordable using upcycled frames I already owned! I hope you'll be inspired to make your own family gallery wall with these simple tips that will make hanging and printing photos feel effortless!

I recently saw a photo on Instagram with large framed art covering the wall leading up the staircase and I was so inspired to do this in our home. Our stair wall has always displayed some black and white photos of Jackson, but I decided to go bold and have large family portraits printed in sizes anywhere from 8X10 to 24X30! I ordered all of our prints from Mpix. When it comes to large format photographs, they are my go to for printing! I spent about $100 for all of these prints, which is pretty reasonable!

We already owned all of these frames so I didn't have to buy anything new. As you can see, some have mats and others don't. To help the collection feel cohesive, I had everything printed in black and white, which also adds so much drama to this space!

If gallery walls intimidate you you can always map out your frame arrangement with painters tape prior to hanging anything. I have always been the type to just go for it, so I started by hanging the first portrait at the bottom of the staircase and working my way up.

Having this pencil tree on our landing adds such a magical sparkle and I love how the glass reflects all of the twinkle lights. It is going to be hard to take this tree down after Christmas!

I hope you find some inspiration here to get those family photos up on your wall! You will not regret it!

xoxo, L
